Knowledge of the basic concept: magnets, and the fact that magnets are attractive to metals such as iron, is called magnetism.

In layman's terms, the working principle of generators

Concepts derived from the basic concepts:

1, magnetic field. We can understand the magnetic field from the magnetic force, should know that a piece of iron from the magnet at a certain distance, the magnet has attracted the piece of iron, but they are not in contact. So we need a concept of magnetic field to say that there is a magnetic field around a magnet, and any iron in the magnetic field will be subject to magnetic force. Theoretically, the magnetic field of any magnet can extend infinitely far, but in practice the magnetic force in a very short distance has been too small for humans to notice.

2, electric field electric field is similar to the magnetic field, the difference is that the object of the role of different. The magnetic field produces a magnetic force on the iron in it, the electric field produces a gravitational or repulsive force on the electric charge in it.

3, current in the electric field is the movement of charge is current, such as the movement of countless electrons along a copper wire, we define the existence of current in the opposite direction of charge movement (because electrons with a negative charge, but you can directly ignore all the positive and negative differences that appear here, two opposite things, the definition of a positive, the other had to be negative, in addition to no essential difference).

4, electricity so-called generator to send out electricity, it can be understood as the above current, a copper wire connected to the generator, run the generator, copper wire in the current flow, said the generator to send out electricity. Well, start answering the owner's question, how does the generator generate electricity? A law: Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction some human discovered: a piece of metal, such as a copper wire, in the movement of a magnetic field, the metal will generate an electric field inside.

The generator is based on this law. An electric field is generated inside the metal, and we combine the concepts of 2, 3 and 4 to find that the charge inside the metal flows along the electric field. If this piece of metal is not a ring, the charge accumulates at both ends, in the form of a voltage, and by connecting this piece of metal in a loop (the rest of the loop other than the metal is not in the magnetic field), a current is generated, and so the generator emits electricity. Of course, the design of the generator is another matter, the basic principle is to fix the permanent magnet or metal, so that the metal or permanent magnet constantly in motion, the movement is relative well, so that the piece of constant movement in the magnetic field of the metal will be a constant source of electricity.

From the above, we can see that the energy consumed in the process of generating electricity is the part of the metal in the magnetic field to maintain the movement. By this point can be distinguished from different generators, hydroelectric generators is the use of water from a high fall of energy to maintain the movement of the metal, fire power is the use of fire to boil water to produce the power of steam to maintain the movement of the metal.
